The International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11 February recognises the work of women in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields. This is a special day on which we would like to highlight the work of the women who are part of the MP Team.

Among them, there are engineers and technicians such as Nuria Fernández Ballesteros, a Technical Engineer in Industrial Design from our R&D&I team.

“I finished my degree in 2006 and in my class, of approximately 40 people, there were only about 6 girls”, she explains, stressing that “the presence of women in the STEM world should be a permanent education campaign to eliminate the idea that Engineering is a profession for men”.

Nuria, who at MP works on the continuous improvement of our products and on giving shape to new designs (improving existing products and providing solutions to problems that may arise), has participated in projects such as MP SynGO, in the development of different parts of lift cars and many other initiatives.

“To a girl who is taking her first academic or professional steps in the scientific world, I would advise her to go for it without fear, without complexes and to enjoy what she is doing,” she says, celebrating that “there is an increasing number of women in the sector”.

“The most important thing is to enjoy your job because we dedicate many hours of our lives to it and, if I have to give advice to a girl who is thinking of going into the scientific world, it is to dedicate herself to what she really wants and is passionate about, which is where she will really be happy“.
