ARCO - R&D Innovation Ecosystem
ARCO R&D Innovation Ecosystem
At its factory on the Calonge Industrial Park in Seville, MP has a building which houses an R&D lab.

ARCO is our innovation model, based on the in-house expertise of our engineers, in addition to an external system of knowledge, an innovation management model, and laboratory and testing systems.
Objective
The objective of the lab is to ensure design requirements are met. Here, particular emphasis is placed on the RELIABILITY and SAFETY of the components and solutions.
Having our own lab allows us to be more competitive and cut our time to market.
This applies to both our own designs as well as approving external components used for our solutions.
Work carried out
The main work carried out in our lab involves testing. Virtual tests are also carried out by way of simulations, prototype assemblies, functional tests on prototypes and final tests prior to launching new products.
Tests are carried out on real samples in our test tower.
Testing capacity
At MP’s laboratories, we are able to carry out tests pertaining to around 100 different categories, of which the following are particularly noteworthy: electromagnetic compatibility, electrical safety, climate, acoustics and vibrations, functional movement, fatigue, failure modes, software functionality, assembly methods, etc.
Lab resources
The test instruments and equipment, which include around 200 items, can be grouped into four categories:
1.TEST TOWERS
We have a 24-metre-high modular tower with capacity for four lifts. The tower is equipped with sensors and all the necessary protective measures in order to keep workers safe.
At this tower, we can test banks of four connected lifts up to a speed of 1.6 m/s.
Furthermore, we have a 10-metre-high hydraulic tower, a specific tower to carry out SAFETY tests on safety gears and 2 towers to undertake functional software tests.

2.MECHANICAL TESTS
Focused mainly on lift doors and machines, the lab has all the test benches and tools necessary in order to ensure strict compliance with the majority of requirements found in applicable standards.
Tests for all other relevant requirements are carried out by accredited bodies.

3.SIMULATION OF MOVEMENTS
The difference in speed caused by changes in versions of hardware and software (the difference being bigger in the latter case) requires simulation systems which ensure the correct implementation of new features and the compatibility of new versions with what has already been installed. This allows us to continuously improve the features of our products.

4.ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC TESTS
These are done in a fully equipped electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) lab, which has a pre-certification semi-anechoic chamber, instruments to carry out functional tests, a climatic test chamber and equipment to check electrical safety.

MP Lifts School training sessions ‘Thursdays at MP’
MP LIFTS SCHOOL – New online training sessions
On 9 July, the last two of our ‘Thursdays at MP’ webinars took place. These were designed for our Authorised Distributors and their aim is to ensure we maintain close relations within the context of COVID-19, which has made seeing you in person much more difficult, as well as inform you about goings-on at MP.
They began in May and a total of 17 free 45-minute webinars were organised, during which we provided you with relevant information on:
Products and services: MP’s range of products, solutions in response to COVID-19, the ecoGO controller, optimising installation and commissioning, types of modernisation projects and modernisation projects using SERVICEnter.
Marketing and sales: marketing and sales tools, and the MP website as a sales tool.
To see the full programme, click HERE
The sessions were given in Spanish and English, as well as one in French, at times which meant that dealers in different time zones could connect. A total of representatives of 106 authorised dealers from 40 countries and 5 continents watched them live, The sessions were recorded and sent to those who had registered but were unable to attend.
In light of their success and the good response from our clients, we will resume our webinars in September, using a similar format, although on topics unrelated to COVID-19 and as part of the MP Lifts School CPD programme.
Thursdays at MP bring new online training sessions
MP LIFTS SCHOOL – Thrusdays at MP Training Sessions
OBJETIVE
In these sessions we want to share information pills on various topics of interest to our clients. Every Thursday, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion with different MP experts and talk about topics related to the product, tools, sales techniques or market information. We also intend that these sessions help us to better understand your markets and your needs.
- Registration to the webinars for our authorized distributors will be completely free.
- Those interested in receiving the course should confirm your assistance to the following email address: mpliftschool@mplifts.com indicating the full name and email of each attendee.
- The access link to the webinar will be provided once the registration is confirmed.

Information regarding Coronavirus COVID-19
On global level MP has formalized a contingency plan and, for some time now, has implemented a monitoring committee to continuously assess the evolution of the situation and promote the appropriate actions, always following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and other health authorities.
We are taking the recommended prevention measures to ensure the best protection of our employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders. Our priority is people’s health.
For those employees who need to be physically present at their workplace, we have implemented the following measures
• Reorganisation of work shifts to minimise garthering of people.
• Reinforcement of cleaning measures.
• Reinforcement of prevention equipment.
MP and its working centers are in a normal state of activity, without incidents and with full-service availability to our clients. We work by applying the criteria of the Ministry of Industry on industrial safety inspections and maintenance. The active teleworking campaign started last week allows us to meet your needs within our regular schedule.
We would like to thank all the MP teams, especially in the factory and the assembly and maintenance technicians, who strive every day to ensure that the quality of our service remains a reality. Without their efforts none of this would be possible.
We present the necessary prevention measures in the use of the lift.

Clients from Cabo Verde and Costa de Marfil visit MP Lifts
During their time in Seville, they visited the MP facilities at their Headquarters and they also received a course on ECOGo at the MP factory. Moreover they visited the offices and factory of MP Lifts in Zaragoza for the first time.
We want to thank to Elevator Company and Pro Elevateurs this visit and we hope to see them again soon in Spain

Visit of GAT to MP Headquarters in Seville
On April 3 we received the visit in Seville of several members of the GAT.
They were able to visit the Cartuja headquarters, the Calonge factory and the headquarters of the “Valentín de Madariaga Foundation”, as well as visiting the city a little.
The GAT – Community Lift Technology eG – is an association of medium-sized elevator companies. Based in Bissendorf, Germany, they seek the cooperation of small and medium-sized enterprises to jointly improve market opportunities and create synergies between elevator manufacturers.

Little Lift Technicians for a day
The students of the second cycle of Pre-primary education of the School CEIP Vista Alegre of Cordoba received some instructions on lift safety. This class was conducted by our colleague Beatriz Ceña from MP Córdoba.
With educational games and activities these students were able to learn lift safety rules while pretending to be lift technicians for a day.

Interview to Eugenio Barroso in the "Círculo de Empresarios de Cartuja"
